Marriage of Samuel Flower & Annie Marshall 1902

Marriage of Sydney Harris & Amy Redfern 14 July 1913

Amy Harris nee Redfern 1889 - 1980

A misprint - Amy Redfern's father was Thomas Redfern, not Mr S Redfern.
The bridesmaids were Gertrude Harris & Ivy Redfern. Unfortunately, no photos were taken.

Death of (Charles) Stephen Harris 1846 - 1935

'A well known retired farmer, Mr Charles Stephen Harris of Croft House Farm, West Stockwith, Gainsborough, passed away on Thursday (week), at the age of 90.'

In Memory of William (1887) & Walter (1903) Redfern

William died of Diptheria

Walter died of Tuberculosis

In 1914 at the beginning of World War 1, Maria Redfern, Walter's mother said she would grieve no more for Walter, as he was spared having to fight in the war.

Where to Start?!

Over the last decade I have collected & collated snippets of my family history.
I come from a farming family - hence the title!
The geographical areas covered initially -
Misterton, West Stockwith, Heckdyke, North Nottinghamshire, England

The family names I will start with are
HARRIS, LAWSON, MILNER & REDFERN
No doubt this list will grow rapidly.

The time has come to try & present some of this information. At times it has been a confusing & frustrating journey, but mostly a rewarding & exciting one. I am not a family historian or a professional writer so I apologise in advance for any errors either historical or grammatical!

I am now in possession of all the family photos & want to use this blog to both organise & share all the information I have gathered.

Please join in with any questions or other bits of information you may have.

The people in the header photo are from left to right
Amy Redfern 1889-1980; Hetty Redfern 1885-1974; Thomas Redfern 1852-1920;
Samuel Flower 1875-?; Annie Flower & Ivy Redfern 1887-1963.
Thomas is father of Amy, Hetty & Ivy & stepfather to Samuel. Annie is Samuel's wife.
